WEST JORDAN, Utah (ABC 4 News) - There's never a good time for a deployment, but for military families, it's especially tough right before the holidays. On Saturday, families of Utah National Guard soldiers sent their loved ones off.
WEST JORDAN, Utah (ABC 4 News) - There's never a good time for a deployment, but for military families, it's especially tough right before the holidays.

On Saturday, families of Utah National Guard soldiers sent their loved ones off.

“The last couple days have been emotional,” said Lt. Brad Ellertson

60 soldiers with the Utah Army National Guard's 2nd battalion, 211th aviation are leaving for their 12-month deployment to Kosovo.

“We've had soldiers in Kosovo since 1999,” said Lt. Col. George Leonard Barton. “When Yugoslavia broke up it created some gaps and there was a lot of fighting.”

Another group of Utah National Guard soldiers will deploy Sunday from Salt Lake International Airport.

They'll train at Fort Hood, Texas first then will head to Kosovo.
