ALTA, Utah (ABC4 - Utah) A little snow is causing a lot of excitement for skiers. Some are already getting an early jump on the ski season.
Tyler Pirruccio drove across the country for this
“I'm so psyched,” said Pirruccio. “I actually drove 36 hours in the last 4 days pretty much to be here.”
Connie Marshall has been working and skiing at Alta for 40 years, but those first few flakes are still magical.
“You know it started to fall about mid-afternoon yesterday and you could see everyone migrate toward the window,” said
Skiers say there is something special about
“The snow is unmatched,” said Jarrod Blouin, an Alta employee. “It's light, it's fluffy, it's plentiful, and when you get out there there's nothing out like it.”
“They're climbing and we always just kind of, get a big grin about the early season excitement,” said
“It must be hard,” said Blouin. “Very hard. It looks exhausting, but earning your turns, as the skiers say”
“Basically, you're getting to spots that haven't been skied as much,” said Pirruccio. “[There’s] better snow, so it's definitely more rewarding.”
Can’t handle the hike? Alta lifts will start their season on November 22nd.
