Police identify West Valley man killed while crossing the street

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) -- Police have released the name of a man who was killed while crossing at an intersection in West Valley City Friday morning.
WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) -- Police have released the name of a man who was killed while crossing at an intersection in West Valley City Friday morning.

According to West Valley Police Lt. Dalan Taylor, 60-year-old Chris Larsen of West Valley was crossing 2700 West at the intersection with 4270 South, a residential side street.

Taylor said Larsen was walking to work at a nearby Ream's Grocery Store when he was hit. Taylor said Larsen was wearing dark clothing while the light was still low and that there wasn't a crosswalk at the intersection. Larsen added that pedestrians are allowed to cross at intersection with or without crosswalks. The collision happened at about 6:45 a.m. Larsen died at the scene.

Police did not issue a citation to the driver at the scene, but Taylor said the crash is still under investigation.
