I enjoy mountain biking. In fact, I love mountain biking. And the last couple of months I have done a lot of it.
My daily rides in New York were along the Erie Canal in and around the town of Pittsford and down a few short off road trails just south and north of town. On the weekends I would go to places in upstate New York like Dryer Bike Park in Victor and Irondequoit Bay Park West. These parks were incredible and I have great memories of all the rides I made in these parks and others in upstate New York.
However, as I made my way across the country I had the chance to hit trails in several states and in Canada. Bottom line - there are great mountain bike rides all over the country. And some of the best are here in Utah.
I hit trails in the Boston area. I rode for hours in Toronto, Canada on the Don River Trail system and surrounding area. I rode the trails in Niagara Falls, Canada (I still have a deep purple scar on my left leg to forever remind me of the fun and crazy crash I had there.)
My trip allowed me to hit trails outside of Chicago like the Saw Wee Kee Park - an amazing trail system. Who knew Chicago would have one of the best mtb trail systems.
A day later I found myself admiring the amazing rock formations at Veedauwoo while I biked between Cheyenne and Laramie, Wyoming in the Medicine Bow National Forest. If you haven't been there to hike or bike - I highly recommend a weekend trip there.
That brings me back to Utah. I mountain bike 4-6 days a week. Generally, I stay close to home - so I hit the trails up above City Creek, Alpine and Draper. I am sure I will share more on my rides in the near future. Hope to see you on the trails.
