On a cold night in the Salt Lake Cemetery, candles are helping warm hearts of loved ones who lost children too soon.
Many there gathered for 19th annual Christmas Box Angel Candlelight Ceremony, and among them some came to remember Susan Cox Powell, and her two late sons Braden and Charlie.
"This is obviously a real sad day for all of us because it's the day that Susan first disappeared," said Kiirsi Hellewell, Susan’s friend.
Friday marks the fourth anniversary of when Susan went missing from her West Valley City home. Police never found her body. Her husband Josh Powell was widely believed responsible. He then later killed himself and the couple's two children. Since Friday's anniversary coincides with the Christmas Box Angel Ceremony, Susan's friend Kiirsi Hellewell thought coming there with others also carrying burdens, would help heal the pain.
"It just seemed really appropriate to join with them and remember Susan, Charlie, and Braden,” said Hellewell.
Friday night's organizers said that togetherness is what the Christmas Box Angel is all about.
"The angel's arms are outreached to remind us to reach out to each other, her eyes and arms go heavenward letting us know that there is hope and that's what we really want to give people this season," said Lisa Johnson, Christmas Box Angel event organizer.
Loved ones of Susan Cox Powell said they're not giving up the search the Susan. Hellewell tells ABC 4 Utah Susan's father Chuck Cox is hiring a private investigator. They're hoping that person can find them finally find her.
