SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 Utah) - Brian Taylor hasn’t left the Salt Lake County jail after he allegedly beat 1-year-old Xander Toliver so badly he was put on life support last Monday.

According to this Sheriffs report Xander suffered from a “major head trauma.” On Thursday Xander was taken off life support.

“It just breaks my heart because I have two little kids, I don’t understand how people can do that,” said neighbor Tana Conde. “He needs to go to jail for a long, long time because if he is proven that is what he did.”

Salt Lake City Police have ruled this case a homicide. The Prosecutors office said they will determine what Taylor will be charged with next week.

“I think it’s sad I don’t understand how people can do that to little kids and it is crazy that it happened here in this neighborhood,” Conde added.

But if losing a son wasn’t enough for Xanders mother she is now faced with enormous medical bills.

The family has set two fundraisers to help the childs mother with her medical bills.

Both will be held at Taco Time. The first fundraiser will be located at the Kaysville Location on Monday Jan. 6 from 5-8 p.m. The second one will be held at the downtown location on Jan. 8 from 5-8 p.m.
