SPANISH FORK, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) – One person is dead after a semi-truck crashed into a car Thursday morning.

It happened at the intersection of 2550 East State Route 6.

The semi-truck was traveling eastbound on SR-6. The car was traveling northbound on 2550 East and was attempting to make a left turn onto SR-6.

Witnesses say the light was green for the car, but red for the semi-truck. Utah Highway Patrol says dense fog was present with low visibility.

The semi collided with the car in the intersection. Statements from the semi-truck driver indicate he was aware that he was nearing an intersection and he had slowed his speed due to dense visibility. The semi-truck entered the intersection sooner than anticipated.

The driver of the semi was not injured in the crash. The driver of the car, Nathan Hales, 48, of Spanish Fork died in the crash. Hales had a wife and five children.
