Court rules on Brown Family bigamy case

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) -Part of Utah’s law on polygamy is unconstitutional. That is the conclusion of a 90 page opinion issued today by a federal court judge.

An attorney Jonathan Turley's website it says the decision will allow families in to be "both plural and legal in the state of Utah."

Turley represents Kody brown and his 4 wives. They are starts of the reality show "Sister wives" and they sued the state of Utah in 2011.

Turley goes on to say "the court specifically struck down language criminalizing cohabitation - the provision that is used to prosecute polygamists."

The Brown family issued a statement say, “While we know that many people do not approve of plural families... we hope that in time all of our neighbors and fellow citizens will come to respect our own choices as part of this wonderful country of different faiths and beliefs.”
