But the Utes have a new perspective headed into Thursday's first-ever Pac-12 home game against Washington State.
"What happened in Colorado was in 2011," said forward Javon Dawson. "The great thing about it now is it's 2012. We're 0-1 [in the Pac-12]. Oh well, that's better than 0-6 down the road. That one game, that happened in 2011. Now it's 2012, so let's start now. It's a new year, a new us, we got to go full throttle."
Thursday's game against Washington State will be the first ever Pac-12 home game for the Utes. To commemorate the night, the Utes will wear all-black uniforms and the fans are encouraged to wear black as well.
"This is a new season, this is a new team, a new conference," said guard Cedric Martin. "We knew what it was going to be like when we first signed. So, we just have to better ourselves and play through it."
The Cougars come into the Huntsman Center with a record of 9-5 overall, 1-1 in the Pac-12.
Utah and Washington State will tip off at 7:00 p.m. mountain time.
