Teen enters plea in death of referee

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) - An arraignment hearing was held Friday and the 17-year-old accused of killing referee, Ricardo Portillo, pleaded not guilty.
TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) - An arraignment hearing was held Friday and the 17-year-old accused of killing referee, Ricardo Portillo, pleaded not guilty.

The 17-year-old who allegedly punched a soccer referee who penalized him, resulting in the referee's death, is charged with homicide by assault.

Prosecution says defendant poses a flight risk after he and his father left the scene after the original hit. The defendant will remain in custody. 

Members of the victim’s family were present at the hearing.
