Soccer Referee Passes Away

MURRAY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Soccer referee Ricardo Portillo, who was punched by a 17-year-old player, has passed away according to Unified Police.
MURRAY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Soccer referee Ricardo Portillo, who was punched by a 17-year-old player, has passed away according to Unified Police.  He has been in a coma since the attack on April 27, and died Saturday night at Intermountain Medical Center at 9:33 PM. 

Portillo had given the player a yellow card for a foul.  The player then punched Portillo once in the face.  The player is currently in the Salt Lake Valley Detention Center on an aggravated assault charge.  Now that Portillo has passed away, additional charges are pending.  Police have not released his identity because he is a juvenile.
