On January 18, Spanish Fork City Police Officers were dispatched to the road rage incident around 1550 East and 600 South.
The two drivers were initially traveling eastbound on Highway 6, before exiting on Center Street. The victim reported that Bradley Nelson was “brake checking” him, so he passed the suspect. The two motorists continued to follow one another through a residential neighborhood, where Nelson then passed the victim. Nelson abruptly stopped his vehicle at an intersection, forcing the victim to stop.
Alarmed, the victim watched as Nelson exited his vehicle, brandishing a 40 caliber handgun. When Nelson pointed the handgun, the victim accelerated in panic, striking Nelson with the bumper of his vehicle as he escaped.
Nelson fired six shots towards the victim’s vehicle. One round struck the car in the passenger door, and another in the tailgate area. The other four remaining rounds have not been accounted for.
Nelson, a 41 year-old, was booked into the Utah County Jail for one count of aggravated assault. Nelson fired on the other motorist due to road rage.
Neither the victim nor suspect has sustained injuries. Both parties have been cooperative during the investigation.
The Utah County Attorneys Office is reviewing the incident to determine if additional charges are warranted for the involved parties.
