The magic of Peter Pan has captured the hearts of audiences, both young and old, all over the world for decades. HAC has contracted with Flying By Foy, the most prolific and widely-respected theatrical flying service in the world. Foy provides flying effects, Aereography® and state-of-the-art automation for Broadway shows, London‟s West End, professional and not-for-profit theatres, concert tours, feature films and television productions worldwide. In fact, Flying By Foy created the flying for the original production and helped define Mary Martin‟s barnstorming performance as Peter Pan for the 1954 Broadway musical and ushered in a new era of spectacular, highly-controlled, natural-looking free flight.
Flying with Foy will spend three days installing, and training the local production staff and actors in Herriman June 27-29, 2013. The Flying with Foy will be instructing us on the art of flying during rehearsals.
HAC will join the ranks of the few community theatre organizations that are approved to perform Peter Pan and partner with Flying By Foy.
HAC has assembled a veteran cast, including Jocelyn Hansen as Peter Pan. Jocelyn has a degree in music, dance, and theatre from BYU and has performed in community, semi-professional, and professional productions in Utah and Wyoming. Stephen Kerr will play the villainous Captain Hook.
This will be the third time Kerr has portrayed this role in the Salt Lake City area. Kerr was recently seen as Lord Scrumptous / The Toymaker in the Hale Centre Theatre production of “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” and The Ghost of Christmas Present in “A Christmas Carol” in 2011 and 2012. Stephen will co-direct the show with Robyn Bishop, Theatre Consultant for Jordan School District and former drama teacher for Jordan and Alta High Schools.
Wendy will be played by Bailee Johnson, who was recently seen in the leading role in the movie “Christmas Oranges” and earlier this year as Dina Lord in PTC‟s production of “The Philadelphia Story. She was also in the movie “17 Miracles” and several productions for Hale Centre Theatre and the title role in HAC‟s musical production of “Annie” in 2012.
The character „Michael‟ is being played by Cooper Johnson, Bailee‟s brother. Cooper played Tiny Tim in Hale Centre Theatre‟s, “A Christmas Carol” and is excited to share the stage with his sister.
The rest of the cast is comprised of local residents from Herriman and the surrounding community.
This show is being produced by James Crane and is HAC‟s 9th annual summer show. This is a huge endeavor and the Production Staff and the cast of 66 actors will donate over 15,000 volunteer hours to this production!
Another unique aspect of this show is Herriman‟s Community Orchestra, which is comprised of 25 extremely talented and accomplished musicians and will add a vitality and richness to the outdoor setting of this show.
