Doors open to Black Friday 2012

MURRAY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Thursday night and early Friday morning people traded in sleep to shop for Black Friday deals.

Right at midnight the doors were unlocked and people flooded Fashion Place Mall in Murray.

People were shopping across the country and the crowds and lines did not disappoint at Fashion Place.

Hanna Duran said today is great because, "It is one day a year and I want Victoria Secrets!"

Shopper Alyssa Adams agreed. Adams said, "It is just the experience and to be festive."

But before anyone could partake in the shopping people had to wait. They stood outside looking at locked doors anxiously waiting to get inside.

People spent hours just waiting to get inside the mall and their stores of choice. To them this makes perfect sense. They wouldn't want to be anywhere else. But for anyone who slept instead of shopping, you might be wondering: why?

Shopper Charlotte Coburn explained the need to be at the mall, "It's fun. It's something fun to do. Got nothing else to do, so we come here."

While it is the experience, it's the savings that bring out the crazy in these shoppers.

Prices so good, people are giving up sleep even if they claim not to need it.
