The fire broke out at 3374 S Sidney Way (7275 W).
There were no preliminary reports of specific injury or damage, but neighbors reported hearing a loud explosion from the home, followed by big flames.
Authorities said the homeowner was in the home at the time of the explosion and grabbed her dog and left using the front entrance.
Unified Fire Captain Cliff Burningham said they have not determined the cause of the fire but did acknowledge that the fire started in the back of the house.
One neighbor told ABC 4 News that she saw three large propane tanks lying among the debris.
The home received extensive damage and the investigation into the cause will continue.
