Thursday's Pinpoint Forecast: A RED FLAG WARNING is in effect for most of northern and western Utah. Very hot, breezy, dry, and sunny conditions will be statewide today. South wind will pick up to around 20mph this afternoon, fanning the existing fires, and creating prime conditions for new wildfire starts. Highs will be in the 90s to near 100 degrees up north. Salt Lake City will likely hit 100 degrees for the 20th time this summer! Southern Utah will also mainly be in the 90s to low 100s. Friday will be very similar, hot, breezy, and dry. This weekend, monsoon moisture will return with widespread thunderstorm activity. Highs will be a little cooler, and most of the thunderstorm activity will be in the afternoon and evenings. The scattered storms will stick around on Monday and Tuesday.
Happy Thursday! I can smell the weekend...
