The Summit County Sheriff's Office said that 31-year-old Aubrey Alta Anderson was arrested on Thursday, following a five month investigation of child abuse.
Officials say Anderson was booked into the Summit County Jail on two counts of felony child abuse, and one count of misdemeanor child abuse after authorities were alerted of suspicious injuries found on two infant twins that were brought to the Primary Children’s medical Center in January.
Summit County officials say Anderson had advertised herself as an infant child care specialist and certified nurse’s assistant, with work history in a Utah hospital and had placed ads on several nanny websites.
Officials say Anderson accepted work around the world and in Europe caring for babies, and that during the course of their investigation, detectives learned of an active case of child abuse out of Belgium and that Anderson is currently a fugitive of Belgian authorities.
Summit County officials say that Anderson had allegedly accepted work in Belgium caring for two twins from their birth, and that she fled the country after both infant children were discovered as having multiple bone fractures.
The Summit County Sheriff's Office said that detectives were continuing their investigation and were reaching out to other families that Anderson may have worked for.
