Admission is free and includes entertainment from several bands, access to more than 60 vendors and a free kids play area.

About 460,000 Latinos call Utah home, according to event organizer John Terrill.

He says the population is growing from births from inside Utah rather than from immigration from Mexico or other Latin American countries.

Cinco De Mayo is a day to celebrate the Mexican Army's 1862 victory over France.  It's a relatively minor celebration in Mexico, but has since evolved into a celebration of Mexican culture and heritage in the United States.
