For travelers heading to Utah County for the Freedom Festival and Stadium of Fire on the Fourth, UDOT is encouraging drivers to avoid traveling between 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. and allow extra time.
The following is a brief description of this holiday weekend's most significant travel impacts and roadwork statewide, weather permitting:
Interstate 80, Parleys Canyon
All lanes remain open on I-80 in Parleys Canyon. However, crews have shifted and narrowed lanes on westbound I-80 as part of a project to install a new drainage pipe. In addition, the speed limit in the construction zone is 55 mph. Drivers should obey posted signs and speed limits and use caution when traveling through the canyon.
I-15, Payson to Spanish Fork
All lanes on I-15 from Payson to Spanish Fork are open this weekend. Lanes have been narrowed to 11 feet and shifted to accommodate construction in the freeway median.
I-15, Box Elder County
I-15 is reduced to one lane in each direction between state route 30 and the Idaho border as part of a project to strengthen the pavement by installing metal reinforcing bars. While no work will be scheduled over the July 4 holiday, this lane closure will allow concrete to reach full strength before being opened to traffic.
