That number is double the number of guns found this year in six airports with comparable passenger traffic volumes. These airports include Portland, St. Louis, and Kansas City.
TSA issued $1.8 million in fines to passengers caught with guns in 2012. TSA has also discovered grenades and other weapons at Salt Lake City International security checkpoints.
