PROVO (ABC 4 News)- A Provo police officer who was fired for displaying his Speedo-style swimsuit at a school function will be reinstated following the Provo Civil Service Commission's ruling Wednesday.

Officer Cody Harris was fired in May after making an appearance at a birthday party at Provo High School, wearing only a green Speedo and making "inappropriate gestures."

In early June, Officer Harris appealed the decision to fire him.

"While we stand by our initial decision, as a department, we will honor the commission’s ruling," said Provo Sgt. Brandon Post.

"We will now focus on moving forward and we will make sure that Officer Harris has a successful transition back to active duty status," Sgt. Post added.
