Court documents show that 34-year-old Bambi Lindsay (also known as Bambi Lee Richins) was charged with Child Abuse, Aggravated Assault, and Witness Tampering, all felonies.
The Duchesne County Sheriff's Office said investigators were tipped off after interviews with Utah Division of Family Services who were responding to an anonymous tip of abuse.
Officials say Lindsay pointed a loaded gun at her son's head and threatened to shoot him.
Court documents show Lindsay's 9-year-old son told a detective that she became angry with him while he was performing chores in her home and pointed a .22-caliber handgun at his head saying, "I am going to blow your head off."
A Duchesne County Sheriff's Office official told ABC 4 News that they boy claimed his mother also threatened to put the gun in his mouth and pull the trigger.
The sheriff's office spokesman said that another child was in the home at the time of the alleged incident.
The spokesman said that Lindsay also threatened to place the children in foster care of they told anyone about the incident.
Lindsay posted $20,000 bail and was released after her arrest and booking into the Duchesne County Jail.
She was scheduled to appear in 8th District Court on Thursday.
