The goal of the contest was to find America’s best place to be healthy. The magazine started with the American College of Sports Medicine’s annual list of the country’s 50 healthiest cities. Since the list favored larger metropolises they also added a few small and midsize active towns.
Then they called local runners, cyclists, climbers, surfers, and to help narrow the field to ten places where it’s "easy to eat healthy, find work, and with quick access to trails, beaches and mountains."
These cities were put up for a three-week vote on Facebook.
Park City beat out other cities such as Greenville, South Carolina, Honolulu, Hawaii, Bozeman Montana, San Diego, Chicago, Fort Collins, and Washington D.C.
Greenville had the most votes with more than 7,100, but for “per capita excitement, no place was as passtionate as Park City, which received two-thirds as many vote (5,179) as it has residents.”
