LEHI, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Just in time for the busy holiday season those looking for bargain shopping can look no further than Lehi.
The Outlets at Traverse Mountain will be the closest outlet mall for those in Utah and Salt Lake counties. Plenty of shoppers in the area say they won't miss the commute up the mountain to Park City's Tanger Outlets.
"We used to make the trek a couple times a year with friends and I no longer have to do that with this just a few minutes down the road,” said Kristen Parker, a Highland resident.
"I think this is just a better location and especially for pulling in families,” said Maragret Cecala, a Lehi resident. “I just think people don't want to go to Park City anymore.”
Though this outlet mall will initially be smaller in size than Tanger, its 40 stores include a mix of high-end and mid-range retail and some stores are completely new to Utah including Le Creuset, GoLite and Under Armour.
"There's just a lot of good stores that we don't have anywhere else like the Under Armour,” said Cecala. “I’m like super excited for it.”
Shoppers who hate the cold will love the glass atrium canopy covering walkways and the radiant heating and snow melt system. Nearby neighbors tell us they're excited for all the new jobs even if that means more congestion.
"Traffic wont be too exciting and with the Adobe building and that combined, might be heavy on traffic,” said Reed Noorlander, a Lehi resident. “But I think it's a nice addition to the area.” Events to celebrate the opening begin Thursday and go throughout the weekend.
