The group’s executive vice president Friday called for a program to arm and train guards in schools as the best way to protect kids.
The NRA says armed guards could have possibly prevented the high death toll at Sandy Hook Elementary.
“What is Adam Lanza started shooting his way into Sandy Hook Elementary School last Friday, he’d been confronted by armed security?” said Wayne LaPierre, NRA.
Utah parents tell ABC 4 any extra level of security at schools is a good idea.
“I think it would be good I really do I worry about my children when they’re at school,” said Rebecca Tidwell.
“The way things are I think that’s a good idea, they already have officers in most of the junior highs and high schools in Utah and they’re armed anyway,” said Harley Gold.
The NRA says it wants Congress to allocate funds to put armed officers in every school.
