Court documents say 19-year-old Laura Blocker entered the plea to the class A in Salt Lake's 3rd Disctrict Court.
A judge suspended Blocker's 365-day jail sentence and ordered her to complete 500 hours of community service to go along with her 24 months of probation.
Police say Blocker lost control of the car she was driving in the early morning of November 18.
According to a probable cause statement, Blocker was driving a Chevy Malibu with her cousin Kellie McElroy as her single passenger.
The statement said that when police responded to the scene of the crash, they discovered the vehicle on fire, upside down at 5700 South Wasatch Boulevard.
According to the statement, police found McElroy deceased inside the vehicle, and Blocker was outside nearby.
Police said that a recorded interview was conducted with Blocker in which she stated that she was driving approximately 100 miles per hour when she started to let off on the gas pedal and then lost control of the car.
The posted speed limit in that area is 50 miles per hour.
On Friday, Judge Judith Atherton allowed Blocker to amass double time in her community service hours if she serves that time with the Utah Highway Patrol.
