Data released Monday by the testing company College Board shows Utah saw a 10.5 percent jump in the number of students taking the tests, which count for college credit. The pass rate was up 11 percent from last year and registered at 68 percent.
High school students usually take the subject-specific AP exams after taking a corresponding college-level class. More than 20,000 students in Utah took a total of more than 33,000 exams this year.
Utah students outperformed their national peers, who passed the tests at a rate of 59 percent in 2012.
