PROVO, Utah (ABC 4 News) – A man robs a Provo clothing store and gets away by using a taser on the store employees.

Around 9 p.m. Thursday night 28-year-old Wesley Byington allegedly tried leaving the Gen-X clothing store with several stolen items stuffed in his pants. Employees noticed Byington trying to run out of the store and convinced him to come back in and return the items. When Byington heard that employees had called the police he tried running out for the second time.

The manager of Gen-X, Miguel Medellin, tried stopping Byington and that’s when Medellin was reportedly tased.

Medellin said, “I told him don’t move man, don’t run. So he grabbed the thing and shot me like three or four times.”

A female customer, who was near the front door, was also injured in the exchange.

Byington didn’t make it far. Provo police officers identified him and found him hiding in a closet in an apartment in Orem. He was arrested and charged with two counts of assault and robbery. He was also booked on five outstanding warrants.
