"I could not believe that we could live in a community that we could be bullied, and our district could be bullied, and our coach could be bullied," said Makay Tautu, parent supporting McGeary.
Parents who support former Lone Peak High School Football Tony McGeary are fed up.
"I'm tired of being bullied, the majority needs to be vocal not silent anymore," said Joyce Pierson, parent supporting McGeary.
Wednesday night dozens of McGeary supporters met to find a way to get his job back.
"So many people have been asking and talking to each other, 'What can we do?' 'What can we do to get the coach back?'" said Howard Mannemann, parent supporting McGeary.
On Monday Coach McGeary resigned as Head Football Coach after a 42 page complaint emerged claiming McGeary illegally profited from his players. The documents show last season he overcharged players for training camp and pocketed $5,735. Parents heard rumors if anyone showed public support for McGeary he could lose his teaching position as a P.E. Instructor as well, that's something the District denies.
"For someone to express their feelings in an appropriate way is certainly something that everybody has the right to do," said Rhonda Bromley, Alpine School District Spokesperson.
However, the District is saying children of parents who created the complaint against McGeary have been bullied at school. At least two students have been suspended who were involved in attacks of those children. Parents who met Wednesday are hoping for a more peaceful solution.
"We have urged all our boys to very complacent in this, that the best way to fight this is through discussions," said Pierson.
The District also told ABC 4 Lone Peak's School Resource Officer is investigating serious threats made against students those parents brought the scandal to light.
You may have noticed ABC 4 only talked to parents who support Coach McGeary. ABC 4 did reach out to parents who do not support the coach, but they would not go on camera, because they were afraid of retaliation.
