Unified Police detectives say in charging documents filed Monday that two men stole brass clamping rings and heavy copper wire with the help of two others between March and June of 2011. Prosecutors say the items were taken from the Kennecott North Tailings Plant and sold to several recycling businesses.
Police say one employee told investigators he had hidden a "complete meth lab" in a large pipe. Detectives say they found glassware and meth lab materials on the grounds.
The 42-year-old old employee who police say used his work truck in the thefts faces felony theft and clandestine lab charges.
The others face similar or lesser charges.
