Former 'Alice in Chains,' 'Celebrity Rehab' star arrested for drug possession in SLC

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Mike Starr, the former bassist for 'Alice in Chains' was arrested on Thursday for illegal possession of prescription drugs.
SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Mike Starr, the former bassist for 'Alice in Chains' was arrested on Thursday for illegal possession of prescription drugs.

Starr is also famous for appearing on the VH1 program 'Celebrity Rehab' in 2010, where he appeared to have kicked a heroin habit.

Starr was a passenger in a van driven by Travis Meeks, who was pulled over by a SLCPD officer on Thursday night.

Officers checked on Starr's information and found an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest.

According to a police report, Starr told the officer, "Hey officer, have you ever heard of Alice in Chains? I used to be the bass guitarist for them. We are down here in Utah, me and Travis, putting together a new band."

A search of Starr revealed that he had unauthorized pain medication on him, and he was arrested on the outstanding warrant.

Starr also faces additional felony possession drug charges.
