On February 18, the Provo Police Special Enforcement Team served a warrant at 2344 South Dakota Lane. During the search, police found the marijuana which weighed in at over 60 pounds. The marijuana was worth 68 thousand dollars.
29-year-old Jordan Cook was arrested and booked into the Utah County Jail on several charges including: cultivation of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, mislaid property and a DUI.
Cook’s neighbors had noticed suspicious activity at his home and reported it to police, according to Provo Mayor John Curtis’ blog.
“Apparently the basement was doubling as an in-home greenhouse-style operation,” wrote the Mayor in his blog.
Besides the plants, officers found jars containing marijuana, pipes and other items used to ingest the drug. There were also pots, lights and venting used to grow the plant.
Cook lived in the home with his 5-year-old daughter. Police reportedly found a small jar of marijuana in her room as well.
According to the probably cause statement, Cook told Police that he grew the marijuana for his personal medicinal use. He claimed that he delivered it free to others needing it medicinally as well.
Cook also reportedly admitted to ingesting .75 grams of marijuana earlier in the day on Monday.
