Blake Timothy Molder was sentenced Monday, after pleading guilty in October to automobile homicide. He took a plea deal that released him from misdemeanor speeding and traffic charges.
Authorities say Molder drove his SUV into the back of Michael Gallegos' car at 95 mph while Gallegos was stopped at a South Jordan stoplight.
The 39-year-old father of two died at the scene of the accident June 23.
Police say Molder told them he had several drinks at a bar that evening and smoked marijuana earlier in the day.
Molder apologized Monday and said he thinks about and prays for the Gallegos family daily.
