Deer plays with children

HERRIMAN, Utah (ABC 4 News) - A frolicking deer made its way into a Herriman neighborhood and cozied up to two unsuspecting children.
HERRIMAN, Utah (ABC 4 News) - A frolicking deer made its way into a Herriman neighborhood and cozied up to two unsuspecting children.

Jamie King captured the rare moment of child children with the animal and posted the video to YouTube.

"Isabella watch out honey," King could be heard telling his daughter in the video.

Department of Wildlife Resources Biologists say they've never seen animal behavior like this--- ever.

When the girl wraps her arms around the deer's neck it gently leans into her embrace.

The deer can be seen prancing around a few moments later. It appears to enjoy the interaction.

Department of Wildlife Resources spokesman, Mark Hadley is trying to determine what caused this unusual behavior. "There's no indication from watching the video that the animal was sick," he said.

His best theory for this behavior is the deer must have warmed up to humans through several smaller interactions.

Deer will normally run or attack if they feel trapped making any close interaction potentially dangerous.

Hadley says King's video is a bad example of how to act around wildlife.

Human contact with deer is becoming more common in Utah because neighborhoods are expanding into forested areas.
