The teenage girl was classmates with neighbor Jayme Long at Box Elder High School.
"I just don't get why it would happen to her since shes so sweet and innocent and she doesn't do anything wrong," said neighbor Jayme Long.
Police say 45-year-old Michael Woodruff used a handgun to shoot 16-year-old Alix Norman, his step-daughter, his dog and then himself. Neighbors were shocked by the incident.
Jennifer Long, a friend of Alix, said, "He helped out our family if we ever needed anything-if we needed tools. He would wave and he would go biking. He was really nice. We never thought he would be capable of something like that."
The Long family have lived next door to this home for just over a year. They say they thought the family was happy and loving, but now they're ripped apart by sorrow. The mother and wife of the two dead found their bodies Tuesday night.
"Words can't describe how she was feeling at the time and I don't think it's hit her yet as she comes to realize what happened here. She was completely distraught," said Brigham city police Lt. Michael Nelsen.
Police say the handgun used was not registered by Michael Woodruff and his wife didn't know he had a handgun. Some of Alix's friends say they want to make a memorial for her at Box Elder High School where she was a student.
