Varvagan was hiking along the trail to Bridal Veil Falls when he stumbled and fell about 200 feet down a steep rocky slope. He landed about 250 feet about the Provo Parkway trail adjacent to the Provo River at the base of Bridal Veil Falls.
Deputies with the Utah County Sheriff's Office responded along with the Utah County Sheriff's Search and Rescue team. Medical personnel with North Fork Fire and Ambulance at Sundance and Provo Fire and Rescue also responded. The boy sustained serious head injuries, possibly a broken collar bone, and back and hip injuries. The boy was conscious and alert when rescuers arrived but told them he did not remember what happened.
He was kept overnight in the trauma unit at Primary Children’s Medical center.
