AMERICAN FORK, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) – A 16-year-old girl was found safe Saturday evening in Salt Lake County after she was missing for over a day.

American Fork Police said Kelsy Frame was with an 18-year-old man in West Valley City.

Gregg Ludlow with American Fork Police said Frame left her home Friday morning and met the 18-year-old in her city. According to Ludlow, the two rode a UTA bus to a FrontRunner Station then boarded the train to Salt Lake City. The 18-year-old allegedly took Frame to his West Valley City home near 4100 South and 4100 West.

Ludlow said Frame expressed she was unhappy at home and wanted to leave.

Authorities are investigating how the two met, but said Frame and the man had been friends for over a year.

Dozens of volunteers were already searching neighborhoods in American Fork when Frame’s parents were notified that she was found safe.

“We’re just happy she’s alive and safe,” Doug Frame, Kelsy’s father, said. “It should make any parent reflect on their relationships with their children.”

The 18-year-old man is being questioned by American Fork Police and will likely be charged with harboring a runaway.
