SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - 140 soldiers from the Utah National Guard arrived home from Afghanistan Thursday. 25 of those soldiers met their babies for the first time, 15 are first-time dads.

Kaitlin Manning is just one of the first-time moms of the 624th Engineers Company doing it all by herself while her husband was deployed.

“It's been a lot harder than I thought I applaud any single parent ever because I don't want to do it anymore,” she said.

While deployed, the Springville-based company's mission was to construct buildings in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

“It’s been hard for her, taking care of two kids by herself, but she did a good job,” said Sgt. Brodie Mcleod of his wife.

The soldiers arrived from Fort Hood, Texas where they had been undergoing demobilization processing.
