Police say they exchanged gunfire with Matthew David Stewart inside a home at 3268 Jackson Avenue in Ogden while attempting to serve a drug-related search warrant.
Agent Jared Francom, a seven year veteran of the Ogden Police Department, died from a gunshot wound and five other officers were injured.
Erin Francom heard about her husband's death almost immediately after it happened.
She told ABC 4 News her husband "loved his job."
She also said, "He loved his family. He was a good father."
Erin said Jared never said he was afraid of his job and she was never worried for his safety. She said he would check-in with her regularly while he worked.
The couple met through mutual friends and married seven years ago. They have two girls who are five and three years old. Erin said they are having problems understanding the loss of their father.
Erin said the loss hasn't sunk in yet. She said her husband was loved by everyone and was a great father, police officer, and husband.
