PROVO, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) – A BYU student is making it his mission to help those who accept the call to serve be as prepared as possible before they enter the Missionary Training Center.

"Just to have one place missionaries can go and they can watch hundreds of videos on whatever mission they are called to serve in," says Alex Balinski, Founder of PrepareToServe.com.

Balinski and his wife founded the site not long before the historic announcement lowering the age requirement for both men and women to enter the LDS mission field.

The site is helping the record number of prospective missionaries go beyond the spiritual preperation.

"If you want to learn and become an expert about the food, about the places, traditions, history, people, language,” says Balinski.

Future missionaries can also find interviews with returned missionaries and converts from the mission they are called to.

"Any of that knowledge you can gain about your country or state you are serving in will bless you and help you relate with the people on your mission," says Balinski.

With ten thousand Youtube videos now screened and loaded to the site Balinski is hoping others will reap the rewards of his labors, labors that come with a sacrifice.

"And worse comes to worse, if it doesn't work after six months of burning through our savings, go back to the normal life, another job," says Balinski.

But also a reward.

"It's like the coolest job in the world to sit down with missionaries every week and listen to their stories, they are fascinating stories," says Balinski.

Balinski thinks the site will take about three years to complete. He hopes to have forty to fifty thousand videos posted when it's all said and done.
