The USA Wrestling Kids Nationals are taking place at Utah Valley University this week, with some 700 kids from 38 different states competing in Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling.
"This is comparable to the Little League World Series," said tournament director Cole Kelley. "This is wrestling's version of that."
Kids, ages 7-14, have come from as far as New York and Alaska to compete. They had to qualify for this event by winning regional tournaments, and the young grapplers from Utah are well represented.
"Utah on the national scene in the sport of wrestling is having a lot of success," Kelly said. "The event has grown every year. That's one of the things that USA Wrestling continues to look at is that the numbers have increased every single year since its been in Utah."
"I think it's cool how I get to wrestle kids from all over," said 11-year-old Oakley Ridge from Pleasant Grove. "I just like how hard the competition is and how hard you have to work to be a good wrestler."
The tournament continues all day through Wednesday. To see some of Utah's finest take down ABC-4's Dana Greene, click on the video.
