LAYTON, UTAH (ABC 4 UTAH) - Rescue crews have found the body of the man who drowned at the Holmes Creek Reservoir.
Layton police say at 8a.m. the body of 20-year-old Tyler Flint was located in the same area he went down Thursdsay afternoon. On Friday, before the sun had even fully risen crews began thier search through the murkey waters.
"Its tragic and its needless,"said Lt. Hinojosa with the Layton Police Department.
Lt. Hinojosa says crews were able to locate the body with the help of sonar equipment. "When they lowered the sonar equipment it actually gave a picture ofwhat appeared to be a person at the bottom," said Lt. Hinojosa.
A successful but tragic finding and one that could have been prevented. "There are signs posted for no swimming at this particular facility, its just mostly for fishiing and the water conditions are such that if you are getting in trouble, your not a good swimmer the odds are not very much in your favor," said Lt. Hinojosa.
Police aren't sure what the case may have been for 20-year-old Flint, but according to to one of his two friends, Flint said "he wasn't sure he was going to make it across."
"We do know that the friend he was with did try to help him, but he was going down and he was starting to drag his friend down with him, said Lt. Hinojosa.
Police are warning the public to please follow the rules and stay out of the water to prevent another tragic drowning from occurring.
