Redefining Hospice Care

PROVO, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) - When you are talking Senior Wellness, you must discuss Hospice Care. A service most simply do not understand.
PROVO, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) - When you are talking Senior Wellness, you must discuss Hospice Care. A service most simply do not understand.  Hospice care is not the dark last days of a person's life, but instead it is living the final days to the fullest.

Dee Ashley's mother Viola is the example of what hospice care can be.

Vi was able to do everything she wanted before she died, including skydiving at 83 years old.

Dee said, "She was so excited about it, it was the thrill that she wanted."

For Vi Hospice Care was not a death wish, but an opportunity to make the very most of the end of her life with the assitance of At Home Caregivers.

Dee said, "They were there and it made it so much easier for us."

For Dee and her family, the extra care made the difference out of the final days of her mother's life. Dee said, "To enjoy my mother and be able to be with her, her last little while, was wonderful and they made that possible for us."

Leonard Hurst is another wonderful example of Hospice Care and how Hospice Care doesn't always mean the end is near. For Leonard, he has been put on Hospice Care and then removed, because his health improved so much.

The use of Home Care and Hospice has made taking care of Leonard easier for his family. The family can stay the family and the care givers can take care of making sure Leonard is well.
