CEDAR CITY, Utah, (ABC4 Utah) -A Cedar City man was arrested Monday for castrating his neighbor’s horses. Police say Marvin Jay Hunt, along with others, penned up the neighbor’s horses in their private corral. The neighbor contacted police for help, stating that this was not the first time Hunt had taken his livestock.

The horses were freed later that afternoon, but the neighbor noticed something different about his animals; at least four of them had been castrated, including his stud. The man who performed the surgery on the animals told police Hunt lead him to believe that all the animals were his and was unaware that that they were stolen.

Police say injuries in this case are more than $5000 and castrations without the owners permission are considered a second degree felony.
