New information about a drive by shooting in West Valley City.
WEST VALLEY, UTAH (ABC 4 UTAH) - New information about a drive by shooting in West Valley City.

Police say it may be gang related and they need the community to com forward with any information.

The victims are recovering in the hospital after being shot in broad day light at 4480 South and 3800West in West Valley City. The victims were initially listed in critical condition, but as of Thursday morning were upgraded to stable condition.

Now, just one day after the shooting, neighbors tell ABC 4 Utah they are on edge.

"I'm scared to open my windows, I'm scared to open my curtains, i just don't know...i just want cops to check here more," said Debra Griggs, a resident in the neighborhood where the shooting occurred.

Griggs was home inside with four kids at the time of the drove by shooting, she says her husband and her saw it all go down.

“We heard gun shots so we looked out and we saw a guy hit the ground underneath the trees and then he took off running grabbing his neck blood everywhere,” said Griggs.

West Valley police say the shooters opened fire on two men walking down the street, then drove off in a green compact car.

“Right now the victims in this case are being somewhat uncooperative. We are not getting a lot of information a lot of detail from them,” said Sgt. Jason Hauer, with the West Valley Police Department.

Police say the shooting is potentially gang related. “Our patrol officers are continuously in that area. We do have guys assigned specifically to that beat, that region, and we will continue to look for that suspect vehicle,” said Sgt. Hauer.

Meanwhile, for Griggs and other parents in the neighborhood they are holding their kids closer and worried about them coming and going from school.

"We don't know what to do. We can’t keep the kids in the house all the time but it scary. I'm scared for them to come out here,” said Griggs.

West Valley Police is asking if anyone has information to contact the department - your call will remain anonymous.
