SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - A controversial Mormon themed documentary that was originally scheduled to come out in 2008 is being released just months before the presidential election.

The movie is not about Mitt Romney’s run for the White House. The documentary – entitled “A Mormon President: Joseph Smith and the Mormon Quest for the White House” actually looks into the Mormon founder’s presidential bid in 1844. However, some say it’s clear from the trailer that the documentary really targets Romney.

The documentary was produced by Adam Christing. He is not a Mormon, but was born and raised in the Re-organized LDS Church, which is now known as the Community of Christ.
