The victim’s cousin and his family are upset after learning Doporto is set to be released from the Utah State Prison. Back in 1998 Doporto was found guilty of sexual abuse of a child and sodomy of a child.“There are a lot of other cases that didn't go to trial because of the statute of limitations. The statutes of limitations were able to stop him from being prosecuted with 50 more counts of abuse,” says the cousin. Now, the family is trying to fight his release by organizing a petition to the parole board who they claim never notified them of Doporto's release. However, the parole board says they did notify the victims but one of the letters was returned in the mail after the victim moved.
The victim’s mother tells ABC 4 Utah she just wants justice for her daughter and for any other victims. “He gave my daughter a life sentence she suffers every day she's still in therapy, it ruined her it ruined our life it ruined many peoples lives. My family and it isn't fair he is let out,” says the mother.
