According to multiple reports, Jefferson has agreed to a 3-year $40.5-million free agent deal with the Charlotte Bobcats. Jefferson can opt out of his contract after the second year.
The deal will become official on July 10th.
Jefferson, 28, played the last three seasons with the Jazz, averaging 18.8 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. Last year, Jefferson averaged 17.8 points and 9.8 rebounds in 79 games. He was the team's leading scorer the last two seasons.
Jefferson was efficient offensively, shooting 49.4 percent from the field in this seasons seasons, but was often a liability on defense. The Jazz failed to make the playoffs in two of the three seasons he was in Utah.
Jefferson did prove to be durable, missing just nine games in three seasons.
The Jazz are planning to go with a younger front court of Derrick Favors and Enes Kanter, so Jefferson did not become a high priority signing this off season, especially at the price the Bobcats are paying.
The Jazz have reached out to free agent Paul Millsap, but no deal is imminent.
