Thursday outside the Third Avenue Bistro, Salt Lake City Police Chief Burbank and Officer Clark's family unveiled the new bronze marker remembering their sacrifice.
Officer Clark was shot while on patrol outside the shop during a robbery.
Officer Clark's oldest son Mike was part of the ceremony Thursday. Mike told ABC4 News, "back in that time, life was different. It wasn't the same way as it was today, I never feared he wouldn't come home. I never thought about it. It was quite the shock."
Just before his death in September, prominent civil rights attorney Brian Barnard agreed to sponsor the plaque. Although he died before the marker was a reality, a family friend told the group Barnard would be grateful for this day.
