Ogden's Standard-Examiner reports (http://bit.ly/MhrWEN ) 2nd District Judge Michael Lyon ruled Friday there's sufficient evidence to try Daniel Kotter and Matt Jones on the charges.
Kotter, who has since been fired by the Perry Police Department, is accused of bribing a Utah Highway Patrol trooper on behalf of his friend Jones, an-ex Ogden officer.
According to court documents, Kotter was arrested last September after giving the trooper $2,000 in cash not to appear at a state driver's license division hearing for Jones after the trooper arrested Jones for drunken driving.
No action could have been taken against Jones had the trooper complied.
Kotter awaits a Nov. 13 trial while Jones faces a Nov. 26 trial.
